Praise for AI Literacy in any class
“AI Literacy in Any Class by Matt Miller is a timely and practical guide that helps educators prepare students for an AI-driven world without adding more work to an already full plate. Miller demonstrates how teachers can seamlessly weave real-world AI literacy into the lessons they already teach, using simple strategies that build critical thinking, ethical awareness, and responsible use of AI. This book empowers educators to help students develop the skills they need to thrive in an AI future while strengthening the learning already happening in today’s classrooms.”
Jennifer Womble
Conference Chair, Future of Education Technology Conference
“AI Literacy in Any Class reframes AI literacy as a matter of discernment and agency, not just a random or abstract digital skill. Matt Miller reminds us that AI systems are ‘confident guessers,’ trained on human data and therefore human bias, making critique essential, not optional. By embedding AI literacy into everyday instruction, he equips educators to help students question, evaluate, and challenge AI outputs across content areas. This book reinforces an essential truth: the goal isn’t automation, it’s empowering students to remain thoughtful, critical, and fully human.”

Prompt & Ponder
To dive deeper into the contents of the book, personalize them, and reflect on them, take a picture of the prompt provided at the end of each chapter. Upload the image to an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Google Gemini and simply say, “Let’s do this.”
Try it with the prompt from chapter 1! Take a picture of the prompt or simply cut and paste the prompt using the drop down below.
I’m a teacher reading a book about AI literacy in the classroom. I’m ready to reflect on how the “AI revolution” impacts my specific corner of the education world. I’d like you to act as a facilitative thought partner to guide me through a deep-dive conversation. First, ask me what subject and grade level I teach, along with one or two core concepts I am currently teaching or am most passionate about. Once I share those, guide me through a multi-step reflection. Start by helping me analyze how AI might change the way those specific concepts are ‘done’ in the professional world. Then, gradually pull the lens back to discuss the broader implications: if AI can handle the technical work of our subjects, what does that mean for the fundamental purpose of school and the role of an educator in society? Please ask me only one question at a time so we can have a focused, meaningful dialogue.
By The Way Lesson Cheatsheet
Accompanying Chapter 4, "Sprinkling AI Literacy into Everyday Classroom Conversations" (page 25), the "By the Way" Lesson Cheatsheet and Planning Sheet provide a simple framework for teaching AI literacy in 30 seconds or less. These resources help you identify the "cracks and crevices" in your daily routine where you can drop "nuggets of wisdom" about topics like hallucinations, image artifacts, and data privacy. This approach ensures that AI literacy is never just "one more thing" on your plate, but a natural extension of the meaningful conversations you are already having with your students.

a Guide to Creating classroom ai norms & guidelines
The AI Integrity Co-Creation Guide and Agreement are based on the strategies found in Chapter 9, "AI and Cheating: Building a Culture of Academic Integrity" (page 57). Rather than relying on unreliable AI detectors, this guide helps you move from "policing" to "partnering" by inviting students to help define their own class norms, guidelines, and rules. By discussing the "Professional Bridge" and addressing the root causes of why students might bypass thinking, you can build a transparent classroom culture where students choose to act with responsibility and ownership.
Be the bot challenge
The "Be the Bot" Challenge activity is a core component of Chapter 5, "Layering AI Literacy onto the Curriculum You Already Teach," which begins on page 30. This low-prep activity empowers you to use AI as a "teaching assistant" by challenging students to predict how a model will respond to a subjective curriculum question before comparing the bot's "statistical best guess" to their own brainstormed evidence. By applying the ABC Rule (Always Be Critiquing) to the output, students engage in deep retrieval practice and critical analysis that reinforces your core subject matter while building essential AI discernment.

AI Literacy Letters
Located in Appendices B through E (pages 74–81), the AI Literacy Stakeholder Letters provide ready-to-use communication tools to engage your entire school community. These templates are specifically tailored for parents, primary teachers, school counselors, and administrators, addressing unique concerns ranging from unhealthy AI fixations to the balance of human effort in the modern workforce. These letters are an essential resource for leading the AI revolution in your school, ensuring that every stakeholder is equipped to help students maximize their humanity in an AI-saturated future.
